This study captures a shy young girl with her hand resting near her mouth, a small gesture that gives her a distinct personality. I want these works to do more than capture people as subjects; I want them to make room for people as they are, living their lives and expressing themselves in different ways. Motherhood and childhood are not single, fixed experiences, and neither are the people who inhabit them. By capturing individual gestures, expressions, and temperaments, I hope to create space for the many personalities and ways of being that exist within the larger story of family.
